Characterization of Alginate-Cellulose-Kaolin Composites for Slow-Release Urea Fertilizer

Research on the effect of cellulose and kaolin addition to alginate-cellulose-kaolin composites' characteristics as a slow-release agent urea fertilizer has been done. The technique used in preparation is an extrusion using 2% CaCl2 solution cross-linker. compositions were varied determine their such diameter, color, swelling ratio, entrapment efficiency, release urea. results showed that diameter beads wet condition produced ranges from 2.98 3.54 mm, whereas dry 1.22 1.92 mm. affected color based CIE Lab analysis. value ratio decreased with kaolin. efficiency obtained ranged 37.25 45.06%. aqueous media kaolin's into alginate amount released
